August Newsletter

It may be summer but it certainly doesn't feel like it. Knowing what to wear can be real problem as the temperature can vary so much during the day and you never know when the heavens are going to open. My advice is to wear layers and wear your brighter summer colours. Just because the skies are grey and overcast does not mean you should wear darker colours. Wearing the brighter colours from your colour chart will lift your spirits.

There has been a lot of talk about Waitrose's Baby Bottom Butter and after weeks of trying to buy some I finally managed to get hold of some. The hype is that woman have been using the cream as a moisturiser. How it went from being applied to a bottom to the face goodness only knows but I was keen to give it a try.

The cream smells wonderful a real vanilla scent, it is organic and free from parabens. Does it work on the face? Well I found it a bit greasy but it did wonders for my dry heels and at under £3.00 per pot I will definately buy it again.

This summer’s hottest buy

Fitflops

A great way to stay in trim is to wear a pair of fitflops. The company who make them claim that every step you take in them helps you slim and tone your thighs, burn calories, reduces cellulite and encourages better posture.

I bought a red pair at the end of May and they have hardly been off my feet. They are incredibly comfortable and my thighs do seem more toned. All my other summer shoes have never got out of the wardrobe as my feet just love my fitflops. You feel supported and cushioned at the same time. They advise you go down a size if you have narrow or flat feet. I have both so instead of buying a size 6 I bought a size 5 which are perfect. You can find them at www.thefitflop.com or you can buy them in the UK at www.runningbare.co.uk They are bringing out a boot for the winter so watch this space.

Shopping can keep you slim

The perfect workout

According to a study the average woman will walk just over 2 miles on every shopping trip she does. Each mile you walk burns up 100 calories so as long as you stay away from the coffee shops and those lovely cakes you should lose weight.

So next time your husband or partner says, 'You're not going shopping again,' You can say you are off for a workout.

News

For those of you who watch Gok Wan's tv makeovers he is appearing in At Home magazine in September.

The new seasons colours are hitting the shops now.
Purple and plum are everywhere teamed with pale grey. If you have a warm skintone choose a charcoal grey instead.

Red will also be big this autumn which is great for you cool skin tone ladies as most of the red around has a blue tint to it which will really suit you but for those of you with olive or sallow skin you will have to hunt around for a warmer red. Take your colour chart with you to help you find the best red for you.

Tartan has made a big comeback especially in accessories. There are handbags, scarves and gloves with touches of tarten. Shades of Bay City Roller days.

The safari jacket is still around this autumn in cream and various shades of brown. If you have a boyish figure a belted jacket will make you look as if you have curves. Avoid double breasted jackets if you want to look slimmer.
