At this time of year shopping can become frantic and you can start to panic buy as Christmas gets closer. On top of this you have stores having sudden sales so what you bought the week before is now 25% cheaper. What is a girl to do?
Take time to make a list of ideas of what you might buy. I never go anywhere without my list because by the time I have bought 20 presents I have forgotten what I have bought. This means that if you come across a sale you have a good idea of what you are looking for, otherwise you can spend too much time looking for the perfect present. Be more focused on what you actually need to buy and look to see if it is reduced anywhere. Check out my website for special offers www.whatcaniwear.com If you know of any offers please let me know so that I can add them to the website.
Party Time
Christmas is the time when you get together with friends and family and may even have an office party to attend. The shops are full of party wear from slinky numbers to trousers and glitzy tops. Wherever you are going, this is the time
when you can get away with adding some bling into your look.
Costume jewellery is a great way of making an understated outfit look more partyish. Whether it is earrings a bracelet or necklace adding a bit of glitz will transform
your outfit from plain to WOW.
When it comes to your handbag ditch the one you take to work and go for a clutch bag, there are some gorgeous silver and gold ones around this year.
www.vivaladiva.com has a fantastic range of bags
and costume jewellery, the one on the right is £35, while the one below is £89.99.
If you have a cool skin tone you will always look better in silver or platinum accessories while if you have a warm skin tone you will look better in gold or bronze.
How many times in the past have you ended up taking off your shoes because your feet are killing you? Well now there are shoes that fold up and fit into your handbag.
Party Feet from www.lovethoseshoes.com
come in lots of different colours and styles and are great to change into if after a night in high heels you are hobbling about. Or even if you have spent the day shopping and have shopped till you dropped what bliss to be able to pull a pair of flatties out of your handbag. From around £20.
Make-up
Evening make-up can be bolder than what you
would normally wear during the day. Artificial light can make you look washed out so if you are going to a party or an event wearing a darker shade of lipstick will bring your face alive.
The one on the right is from YSL called Rouge
Volupe and has an SPF of 15. It also has a mirror on the end of the case which I think is a great idea so you can re-apply your lipstick without
having to find the ladies. It retails at £20.
I would always advise that you wear a
lip pencil underneath your lipstick to help
it last longer. Don't just outline the lips
but fill them in with the liner.
Clinique now have a lip pencil with a sharpener on the end that is long lasting
and costs £12.
What Can I Wear? eBook
I have been asked numerous times about how to give my e-book as a present so I am happy to announce it is now on cd as a downloadable pdf. You just pop it into your laptop or computer and there it is.
Full of tips and advice including skincare, make-up, hairstyles, the colours that suit you and the best style of clothes for your body shape.
Once you understand how to dress your body and which colours bring your face alive you will save a fortune because you will no longer buy clothes you never wear.
You can now buy the cd from the website www.whatcaniwear.com for £8.99.
It comes tied with either a red ribbon or a silver ribbon and is an ideal gift for a friend or better still buy one for yourself.
What I am Loving this Month
I have been looking for a brown cardigan for ages and found two in John Lewis that I liked. Unfortunately there was no size 10 in one of the styles but a very helpful sales assistant said that I could order one in store and it would be delivered to my house at no extra cost. Now that is what I call service, if only more shops offered such a service. Check out my blog for my views on T.K. Maxx.
Quote of the month
'Jewellery takes people's minds off your wrinkles.'
Sonja Henie
In the hectic weeks ahead it is important not to forget about yourself. Try and find a few minutes each day when you can shut yourself off from all that is going on around you. Whether it is a nice relaxing bath with your favourite bath oil or sitting with your feet up drinking a cup of coffee, take time to chill out for a few minutes and let your body relax. A few minutes of complete relaxation will do you the world of good.
Whatever you do over the holiday period have a wonderful time.
