I love October not only does the countryside look glorious at this time of year it is also my birthday month which means my husband does his twice yearly shop with me, the only other time we go together is to buy my Christmas present.  I can usually get an hour of shopping before his eyes glaze over.

As usual we headed to the House of Fraser in Birmingham which is my favourite shop as they stock so many different brands of clothing.  I found a jumper I liked and as my husband was waiting to pay with his credit card I noticed a small sign saying 20% off your Christmas shopping if you pay using your store card. 

Now I have a store card but I had received no information in the post about this offer.  It started on Saturday and runs until the 12th December.  I was told they are a bit behind in telling their store card holders. 

When most retailers on the High Street are struggling I am amazed at their poor marketing.  It's, 'Ssh we have a great offer on but let's not tell anyone about it'.  Utter madness.  By the time we had finished shopping we had saved £28 which paid for our meal at Cafe Rouge.
